Health Treatment FAQ's
-
Is cold laser painful? No. As opposed to high intensity surgical lasers which can cut or burn human tissues, the technology in Cold Laser therapy uses low intensity lasers which don’t produce heat and don’t rely on heat to be effective. The treatment is painless and rather relaxing for patients.
-
How long is a cold Laser session? Each session can vary between 15 to 60 minutes depending on the size and number of areas to be treated.
-
What can I expect during a cold Laser session? For your first session, you will be asked to fill in a questionnaire so that we can evaluate your condition and design a specific treatment plan for you. Then you can have your first dose of Cold laser. The Laser emitter is placed directly on the surface of your skin on specific spots where treatment is needed.
-
How many sessions will I need? This will vary depending on the severity of your symptoms and on how responsive your body is. As one of the effects of Cold laser Therapy is the stimulation of your body’s own repair mechanisms, your immune system plays an important part in the treatment outcome. A healthy immune system will respond better and faster than a weak one, so as a guideline, the older you are and the longer a treatment you might need. Also the frequency of the visits is crucial to the success of the treatment because the cumulative effect of photo-energy inside the cells builds up with each session. Therefore, to build “recovery momentum”, it is highly recommended to use Cold laser Therapy at least twice a week during the initial phase of treatment, which can vary between 1 to 4 weeks depending on your age, lifestyle and severity of your condition. The time between visits will be adjusted as your condition improves.
-
Are there any contraindications?Although there has been no known documentation about serious risks of using Cold Laser Therapy, as a precaution and to prevent any potential adverse effects, we do not recommend using Cold Laser Therapy – When you are pregnant – Have an active or recent cancer – Have fever – Have an acute infection – Over haemorrhages – In the vicinity of pacemakers – Over the thyroid gland – With photosensitive patients Also, people with a weakened immune system (HIV, Diabete,…), or people who recently had a steroid/Cortisone injection or are taking strong anti-inflammatory medications (NSAIDs), might not respond to Cold Laser treatment or might take longer.
-
Can I claim my treatments on my private health insurance?Unfortunately Bodywave’s treatments are not claimable at this stage, however, at Bodywave, we understand that the success of your cold laser treatment involves regular sessions especially in the initial phase, so we have put in place an advantageous discount system where you get $10 off your second visit within the same week and another $20 off your third visit within the same week. Plus we have a loyalty card which gives you $10 off your 5th visit and another $20 off your 10th visit on presentation of your card, which is applicable across all of our services. These unique incentives really make up for the absence of health insurance rebates.
-
What if I need multiple treatment modalities at the same time? This is where Bodywave’s holistic and multidisciplinary approach is so unique. Depending on your specific condition, we will tailor your treatment and apply the modalities that you need. At Bodywave, It is not uncommon to get a combination of massage, cold laser and Aculaser treatment in one session, as well as a Bach Flower therapy in parallel if your physical symptoms are related to an emotional state.
